Cartoon Graveyard

Today I’m sharing a commissioned piece that I recently completed for a couple who were married several weeks ago. The groom is a big fan of comics and the bride wanted to give him something along those lines as a wedding gift.

This was a lot of fun to work on. It’s painted on paper with watercolours and india ink. Sadly, the delicacy of the washes didn’t translate to digital very well.

I’d like to extend my congratulations to the happy couple, and thank them for allowing me to be a small part of their special day. I always feel privileged (and an anxious sense of responsibility) when someone asks me to design or draw or paint something for a wedding, especially when it involves caricature. Fortunately, I haven’t ruined anyone’s wedding yet. (I feel like they’d tell me if I did. Maybe they wouldn’t.)
